My Domestic Violence Campaign Video

My group at Community Youth Development (CYD) created a community awareness campaign on domestic violence. We created this video to share to community groups as well as school clubs and organizations. We believe this is a very important message for us to spread. I hope you like the video and that you share it with others. (Just click on the purple Break the Silence logo above to go straight to the video.)

It’s Hip to be Square

I love quilting!! This is me with my sewing teacher, Anna. She rocks! This is a sample of the quilt squares I made for November 2013. The pattern is called Palace Steps. Every month I make quilt squares for Restore Innocence, an organization that helps girls rescued from human trafficking. Our quilt squares go to another group of women to sew together to make a finished quilt. Each one is then given to a girl to call her own. This quilt may be the only thing she owns. Not much, but after being a slave, it means the world. The quilt is a symbol of a better life and that someone cares.

More Doll Pillows Ready for a Good Home

Doll Pillows

I just finished sewing more doll pillows for Center for Building Hope’s overnight Healing Hearts Camp that’s coming up in March. This is a special day for boys and girls impacted by cancer to forget their worries and have a good time. My pillows will be one of the gifts they receive at the event. (I’m also working on a new design for a bracelet. More on that later.)

In addition to the girl butterfly pillows I made, which I call “Bringing Blessings Butterfly,” I also designed a boy pillow called “Captain Conquer Cancer” for the boys who come to the event. I hope the kids will enjoy the pillows as much as I did making them.
